Boston punches above its weight class - and it is not just a love tap.
With a population of 667,000 and at 90 square miles, the city of Boston barely makes it in the country’s top 10 list of largest cities. However, due to its world-renowned medical institutions, colleges, universities, and winning sports teams, it delivers a powerful impact on its residents and visitors.
Boston’s Sports Teams: Love has no boundaries.

After last Sunday’s white knuckle defeat against the Falcons, The New England Patriots saw their 5th Super Bowl win, out of nine Super Bowl appearances - a record for the franchise. An estimated 1 million fans attended the Victory parade on Tuesday, despite near-freezing temperatures with snow and rain. Other Boston teams have established a powerful impact on its city: the Red Sox have won 8 World Series Championships and have played in 13, the Bruins have won 6 Stanley Cup Championships (tied for fourth most of all-time with the Blackhawks), and the Celtics won 17 Championships and have had 4 of the NBA’s MVPs: Bob Cousy, Bill Russell, Dave Cowens, and Larry Bird.

Education and Health Care: It is a cerebral attraction.
Boston is the home of 35 colleges and universities such as Harvard, MIT, Tufts, BC, Northeastern, and BU. Students and educators seek out Boston as a mecca for education. People come from all over the world to attend these educational institutions that also are responsible for groundbreaking research and technologies. One of the most recent movements that lead to pivotal research was the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. It raised millions of dollars nationwide and was started by a Boston College student. The research funded by the challenge was lead by John Landers, a professor of neurology at UMass Medical School.
In turn, fortune 500 companies and big name national brands have chosen to make Boston home, in order to tap into its talented pool. Most recently, GE announced its headquarters to Boston in 2017, jump-starting an already booming momentum in Boston’s job market.
When it comes to hospitals, Boston is one of only three US cities that achieved multiple positions on the Honor Roll of top 10 hospitals out of 5,000 US medical centers. Brigham and Women's, Mass General, Newton-Wellesley, and Mclean's Hospitals all consistently make top ten lists. Top cancer research center, Dana-Farber, is internationally known for its research and and patient care.
THANK YOU!
