Love is in the #Boston Air: #1 PROXIMITY

During the month of February, The Penney + Gould Team is sharing a reason why we love Boston.

#1: PROXIMITY

Distance does not always make the heart grow fonder.

When it comes to real estate, location is the dominant factor in a property's value and desirability. We often suggest that buyers first imagine their ideal lifestyle and choose a location that will allow them that lifestyle. Next, they should focus on the property itself. A buyer must decide what kind of commute they envision having as part of their work day and weekend routine and we say, less is more.

When it comes to vacation destinations and neighborhood proximity, Boston wins our hearts.
Not only does Boston have excellent walkability rankings within the city - its proximity to New England destinations and beyond is convenient to say the least, and studies show that less commuting equals more happiness. Amy Morin of Forbes explains in her article, “Want To Be Happier, Change Your Commute Or Change Your Attitude” that there is a “direct link between commute time and well-being” and that “people with the longest commutes have the lowest overall satisfaction with their life.”

Neighborhood Proximity: And by that we mean easy-access to restaurants and shopping.

In Boston, getting from neighborhood to neighborhood takes a short amount of time via public transportation or even Uber.  Neighborhoods such as Beacon Hill, Back Bay, South End, and Financial District are all just a short and romantic walk from each other. After a stroll through Eataly in the Prudential, walk through the Public Garden to 140 Charles Street and have a fresh juice at Pressed. It is so enjoyable to walk to some of the city's best restaurants and shops. Also, our favorite neighborhoods within Cambridge, Somerville, and Brookline are just a few T stops away.

Weekend getaways offer short + seamless commutes.

Boston itself is also a short distance to destinations known for their beaches, hiking, and skiing. From the Berkshires here in Massachusetts and the Presidentials in NH, skiing in Stowe or Killington in Vermont, to beaches in Newburyport, Truro, and Provincetown, Boston is central to some of the most desirable weekend destinations. Once at Logan, Boston offers quick and direct flights to NYC, Nantucket #ACK, and Turks and Caicos.

Boston’s location and the proximity of its neighborhoods is just one reason why we have much love for our city!
